When the law clears it for you

Some states now clear certain old records automatically. The catch is that reports and databases do not always catch up.

We check whether your record qualified, whether the courts and agencies updated it, and what the report companies still show. If something should be gone and is not, we write to the right office to correct it.

Worth a look when

  • A check still shows a case that the law says is cleared

  • You never filed anything, but your state changed its law

  • An old case seems to be in a database but not in court

  • You are not sure whether yours was cleared

What the review looks for

The answer is on paper before we charge anything beyond the review.

  • Whether the law reached you

The offense, the dates and the conditions your state set.

  • Whether it was carried out

Court and agency records checked against each other.

  • What the reports still say

The companies that sell your record, and how to ask them to fix it.

Questions about automatic clearing

Does every state do this?

No. A growing number have some form of it, with different lists and waiting periods. We tell you whether yours applies and if a different route fits better.

If it was cleared, why does a check still show it?

Report companies keep copies and do not always refresh them. A written correction request, with your order attached, usually comes first.

Is there a package for this?

The review covers the check. If a correction letter or a filing is needed, we quote it flat before we begin.

Not sure if yours cleared?

Start with the review. It comes off the price of any package you add.
