Flat fees

How the flat fee works, and what it leaves out

One fee per case, quoted in writing before you pay for a package, and paid in installments if you like. Not sure which package fits? The review tells you, and it comes off the fee.

  • A record review first

A 30-minute video call. We pull and read your record and write a plan with every cost. The review has a set fee, quoted when you book, and it is credited toward whichever package you hire us for.

    • Your record pulled and read

    • A written plan with every cost

  • An arrest or a dismissed case

One flat fee for a case that never ended in a conviction.

    • Petition and supporting papers drafted

    • Filing prepared for your signature

    • Hearing preparation by video

    • A copy of the order when it arrives

  • One conviction

One flat fee for an older case with the sentence finished. It adds your statement, written with you, and our appearance at the hearing.

    • Support letters gathered with you

    • We appear by video or in person

  • Several cases at once

Up to three cases are filed together under one plan and one timeline. A fourth case or more is quoted on its own.

Court filing fees and agency record fees are paid to the court or agency on top of our fee. They vary by county and by case, and we give you the exact amounts in writing before you pay us anything. These are sample fees for the owner to replace.

What clients say once the order is signed

“I knew the price before I hired anyone, and it never changed. The hearing was short, and I did it from my kitchen table.”

Odalys P.Dismissed case

“My lease applications kept coming back denied over something from when I was nineteen. They told me what would change and what wouldn't, and didn't oversell it.”

Garrett M.One conviction

“The first call and every question after it were in Spanish. My daughter did not have to translate for me this time.”

Haydee N.Two cases together

Each client's case is different. These are sample comments for the owner to replace, and a past outcome doesn't predict yours.

The lawyers who sign your petition

The same lawyer takes your call and appears with you.

    Estela Samaniego

    Founding attorney

Takes the firm's Spanish-language consultations and every conviction that needs a statement to a judge.

  • Anil Varghese, attorney, with gray hair and beard in a checked suit beside a bright window

Handles the firm's multi-case filings and the paperwork behind every package, in English.

  • Sumiko Hirano, attorney, in a light pink blazer with her hands clasped

Works on arrests, dismissed cases and license applications, in English or Spanish.

What people ask before they hire anyone

What does the flat fee cover?

Drafting the petition and its supporting papers, preparing the filing for your signature, and preparing you for the hearing. On the conviction package we also write your statement with you and appear at the hearing. Each package lists what it holds.

What is not in the fee?

The court charges its own filing fee, and agencies charge for copies of your record. Those go to the court or agency, not to us, and we tell you the amounts before you pay anything.

Can I clear a record while I still owe fines or am on probation?

Often not yet. Many courts want the sentence, probation and payments finished first. The review shows what is left and when you could file.

Do I have to come to Pomona?

No. We work by video with clients across Los Angeles County, and you are welcome at the office if you prefer. Hearings follow the court's own rules on appearing by video or in person.

Will it hide my record from every background check?

Not every one. A cleared or sealed record usually stops showing on most employer and landlord checks, but some agencies, courts and licensing boards can still see it. We explain which in your plan.

Tell us what's showing on your record

We answer within two business days, and the first step is the review.
